The Editing Process of
Oregon Beach 4

Here is a picture that I took while I was visiting the Oregon coast the summer of 2002. As you can tell, it did not turn out very well.

To start off with, I didn't like the sign on the right side of the picture. I cropped it off, but to keep proper proportions, I cropped a little of the bottom off also.

This picture also has a foggy look and was too bright so I darkened it using a negative value on the brightness scale.

since darkening the picture made it dull and gray, I added contrast so the whites are whiter and darks are darker.

There. I made a decent picture out of one that looked unsalvageable. But I thought that it could be even more interesting. So, again, I cropped it.

Then to get a completely different feel I turned it black and white. Although the previous composition looks good, I find this black and white reult even more intriguing!
